Curringa Farm is an experiential / interpretation attraction where visitors can enjoy quality meals, see a sheep being shorn, watch farm dogs working a mob of sheep and learn about best practice landcare and farming techniques. Coaches can travel through the property to look at the farming, cropping and landcare activities in the field. There are two fully self-contained holiday cottages for FIT travellers to use as accommodation options.
Your hosts, Tim and Jane Parsons are 6th generation farmers in the picturesque Derwent Valley at Hamilton. Only one hour from Hobart, on the Lyell Hwy, en route to Strahan. Curringa Farm is 300 hectares in size and has a diverse range of enterprises. There are 3000 sheep for wool and meat production, crops of oil seeds, cabbages and peas for seed production.
There is a very strong ecological focus on the farm with Tim and Jane receiving several awards for sustainable farm management practices over the last few years. There is an intensive tree planting and native vegetation conservation program on the farm where visitors can become involved by assisting with tree planting or contributing towards our Landcare activities.
